It is officially now festival season but not all of us like blaring techno and muddy fields! Festivals should be about absorbing the local atmosphere on a warm sunny afternoon while enjoying some great music and of course, some great booze!
Also long gone are the days of festivals just for 20 year old partiers, You can now take the kids along to many as there is something for everyone. Festival organisers have really caught on and they now run bespoke festivals for all ages. Or perhaps you would prefer to dance to some fresh new house music in the grounds of a stunning country manor then we have something for everyone. If you fancy a bit of a slower pace or fancy taking the kids we have put together a list of the top 3 small festivals this summer!
DeerShed 26-28 July
A very special, family oriented festival it is now in it’s 10th year. Don’t let that worry you though that it is has got too big and corporate as It has reliably stayed true to its roots as a small country festival since its inception in 2009. They pride themselves on taking the hassle out of festivals and it is very easy to get to just two miles from junction 50 of the A1(M). By car 90 minutes from Manchester, 70 mins from Sheffield, 60 mins from Newcastle, 45 mins from Leeds. With a whole host of great food outlets and amusements for the kids such as science and sports tents we reckon it has to be the best at the minute and the music lineup is top notch!
Baldersby Park, Topcliffe YO7 3BZ, United Kingdom
Gottwood has to have the most stunning location of any festival in the UK! Tucked away on a 15th Century estate hidden in an Anglesey woodland, across ten stages with a lake centrepiece, Gottwood's blend of dance music collectives and underground DJs means there's something new to be discovered around every corner. Amongst live performances for A-Future and ALFOS. And with the North Wales coast nearby it is the perfect summer dance festival!
