August has to be the best month of the year barring December! It’s that late summer month where the weather is warm well into the evening and some of us have the joy of finally getting some time off! Whether it’s some quality, authentic quiet time at home, relaxing in the garden or jetting off to a Balearic Island August has it all.
Now not everyone enjoys the hassle of trying to get to the airport and the stress and noise of a busy airliner and they choose to just stay local where they can catch up on some reading or walking or playing with the kids on their summer break. Let's take a quick look and see what August has on offer in the British Isles.
Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Edinburgh
03 – 27 August
The world’s largest arts festival, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival features a programme of more than 53,000 performances and 3,000 shows.
Every year, thousands of authentic performers take hundreds of stages all over Edinburgh to present shows for every taste, from theatre and comedy to dance, circus, children’s shows, opera and spoken word.
Cocktail MasterClass at Kettering Park Hotel
A great, personal event where you get to try your hand at mixing some authentic cocktail recipes! Everything is provided and you not only get to try lots of cocktails but get a great evening meal too!
Bristol International Balloon festival
If you love Hot air balloons then this is the event for you! By far the biggest balloon event held in the UK and Bristol’s largest outdoor event, held annually at the city’s Ashton Court Estate, is the largest event of its kind in Europe. The mass ascents at dawn and teatime are a sight to behold, with more than 100 balloons taking off, and after-dark firework shows to follow. More than half a million people attend the fiesta, which offers a packed four days of fun for the whole family.
One of the really great things about August is the Summer Bank Holiday! For those of us who don’t have holidays booked it gives us a little mini 3 day break for free. Or why not take Friday off and have four whole days to yourself! There is also easily 50 events held over the weekend including the authentic Notting Hill Carnival and the Insomnia Gaming Festival held at the NEC.
Leeds and Reading Festival
Now of course for the younger generation right at the end of August is the Leeds and reading festival from the 23-25th. Britain's premier rock music festival features global acts uniquely performing at both locations over three days allowing for 100,000 revellers at Reading and more than 80,000 at Leeds to experience global rock superstars this year featuring the Foo Fighters and Post Malone.
That wraps up our guide to whats going on in August! Perhaps though the best way to spend the August Bank Holiday is enjoying one of our authentic cocktail recipe kits! Made with only the best ingredients they are perfect for enjoying with friends and family.
